8 Craft Beers That Are Perfect for The Summer
Few things complement a hot summer day better than a cold beer. If you’re looking for some fancy new suds to sip on this season, here are ten craft beers that are designed with the sunny months in mind.

1. 21st Amendment’s Hell or High Watermelon

Watermelon is one of the defining flavors of summer for many people, and this beer does a great job of incorporating that unique taste into this session beer. It’s only 4.9% alcohol by volume, so if you enjoy this mouth-puckering brew from San Francisco’s 21st Amendment Brewery, you can have a few before you start to get too tipsy.

2. Indeed Brewing Company’s Mexican Honey

This imperial lager is brewed with Mexican orange blossoms, giving it a floral, citrus-y taste that easily masks the 8% alcohol. While you might expect a honey beer to be cloying or sticky, it’s surprisingly refreshing, especially when consumed at near-freezing temperature.

3. Urban Chestunut’s Schnickelfritz

This brewery specializes in recreating the classic German beers, and this is no exception. It’s a clean, traditional version of a hefeweizen (wheat beer) specifically the Weissbier variety, as commonly brewed and consumed in great quantities in Bavaria, and has a sweet, pleasant flavor that perfectly compliments a grilled hot dog.

4. Sweetwater’s Waterkeeper

This is a hefeweizen like Schnickelfritz, which is a testament to the variety within that genre, since the two taste almost nothing alike. Where the Schnickelfritz has notes of vanilla and is sweet overall, Waterkeeper is spicy and bold, like most of the offerings from this fantastic Atlanta brewery, which recently donated a quarter of a million dollars to protect the Chattahoochee River.

5. Allagash White

This small brewery has conjured up their own take on a Belgian wheat beer with this cloudy concoction, brewed with oats, malted wheat, and unmalted raw wheat. It’s also spiced with coriander and orange peel, giving the strong wheaty taste of the beer a fruity undertone and complimenting the hops.

6. Rodenbach’s Fruitage

This is an incredibly tasty summer brew that’s so light and refreshing you might mistake it for another beverage entirely. Part of that is due to the heavy fruit content (9% red fruit juice) and part is the low alcohol content (only 4%), making it a beer you almost feel healthy for drinking.

7. Westbrook’s Gose

This brewery from Charleston, SC has perfected the gose tart, a style of beer that’s uniquely well-suited for summer. If you’re someone who appreciates a nice gose, this one is an outstanding example, with the salty aftertaste that defines this particular style of beer, along with notes of lemon. It pairs well with a day on the beach.

8. Dogfish Head’s Sea Quench Ale Session Sour

Sour beers are quite popular in the summer, but this one stands apart from the others for the severity of its tartness. Brewed with black limes, the Sea Quench is definitely refreshing—you just might have to pry your mouth out of a pucker to take another sip.
Beer was made for summer, and vice versa. Make sure you get around to trying these fantastic brews while the hot months are still around.
